1-day screening includes behind-the-scenes preview of Bumblebee, Stan Bush interview

Shout! Factory announced on Wednesday that it, Hasbro Studios, and Fathom Events will screen Transformers: The Movie in approximately 500 theaters in the United States on September 27. The screenings will also include a sneak peek for the making of Bumblebee, the sixth film in the live-action Transformers film series, as well as an interview with Stan Bush, the film's theme song singer. Fathom Events' official website will update with a list of the theaters at a later date.

Shout! Factory describes the film:

The AUTOBOTS, led by the heroic OPTIMUS PRIME, prepare to make a daring attempt to retake their planet from the evil forces of MEGATRON and the DECEPTICONS. Unknown to both sides, a menacing force is heading their way – UNICRON. The only hope of stopping UNICRON lies within the Matrix of Leadership and the AUTOBOT who can rise up and use its power to light their darkest hour. Will the AUTOBOTS be able to save their native planet from destruction or will the DECEPTICONS reign supreme?

Shout! Factory released the film on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in September 2016. The release was an HD remaster with a new transfer from the original 35mm film print, which includes a new 4k transfer of the original 25mm film elements.

Toei Animation animated the 1986 film as a sequel to the first animated television seasons of The Transformers. The animated series is based on Hasbro's toy line, which itself imported toys from Takara's Diaclone and Microman toy lines, among others.
