Film opened in Japan on May 26

Thai film distributor Japan Anime Movie (JAM) Thailand announced on Friday that it will screen Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch - Ōdō (lit.: The Imperial Path, official English subtitle: Glorification), the third film in the compilation film trilogy of all 50 episodes of both the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 series. The screening will open in Thailand on September 6.

The film opened in Japan on May 26. The film ranked #9 in its opening weekend.

JAM Thailand screened Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch - Kōdō (lit.: The Awakening Path, official English subtitle: Initiation), the first film, as well as Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch - Handō (lit.: The Rebellion Path, official English subtitle: Transgression), the second film in the trilogy, on Thursday.

The cast re-recorded all their lines for the films, and the films include new scenes.

Sunrise announced a sequel project titled Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch (English subtitle: Re;surrection) in November 2016. Both director Goro Taniguchi and writer Ichiro Okouchi are returning for the sequel, which opens in Japan in February. Taniguchi confirmed that many of the key staff members are returning for the movie, and specifically emphasized that the story will be complete in one film, which will serve as a finale.

The original Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television anime series premiered in Japan in 2006, while Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 premiered in 2008. The five-part Code Geass: Akito the Exiled OVA is a spinoff of the original anime series, and is set in between the two seasons. The first episode debuted in Japan with a theatrical screening in 2012, and the fifth and final episode opened in theaters in Japan in February 2016.
