Abe to attend premiere of RErideD anime with producer Rie Ogura

The official Twitter account for Crunchyroll Expo announced on Tuesday that it will host anime writer Makoto Uezu (Scum's Wish, Boruto, KONOSUBA, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero) for this year's event.

Crunchyroll Expo's website further announced that the event will host the premiere of the first episode of RErideD: Derrida, who leaps through time. The anime's character designer Yoshitoshi ABe (Haibane Renmei, Serial Experiments Lain) and producer Rie Ogura will attend the premiere.

Crunchyroll is co-producing the anime and will stream the series when it premieres in October. Crunchyroll describes the story of the original anime:

Trapped in a cryogenic stasis for a decade, Derrida is a man out of time in a world at war with uprising artificial lifeforms he inadvertently helped create! Can he survive his nightmare future and restore hope on his quest to fulfill the promise he made to his fallen friend?

Crunchyroll Expo launched last year. This year's event will be held at the San Jose Convention Center in California from September 1-3. The convention will also host The Legend of Zelda manga author duo Akira Himekawa, No Game, No Life anime director Atsuko Ishizuka, voice actress Yūko Ōno, sound director and producer Ryousuke Naya, and Bananya creator Nagano Akiyo. The event will also host DARLING in the FRANXX producer Yūichi Fukushima, director Atsushi Nishigori, and character designer Masayoshi Tanaka.

The event will also host the worldwide English dub premiere of the first episode of the The Rising of The Shield Hero anime as well as a premiere screening of the first two episodes of Double Decker! Doug & Kirill. Crunchyroll Expo is also collaborating with GKIDS to screen 15 animated features at the festival, including Mary and The Witch's Flower, Fireworks, Lu over the wall, and older films such as Napping Princess and Patema Inverted. GKIDS and Crunchyroll will also screen several Studio Ghibli films.
