Anime about 3 cat friends who build their own town on mysterious island

Colopl announced on Wednesday that its Hoshi no Shima no Nyanko (Kittens of the Island of Stars) smartphone game will get a 3D CG television anime adaptation that will premiere on Tokyo MX on Saturday, October 6 at 7:55 a.m. Each weekly episode of the anime will run for 15 minutes.

The anime will feature original characters. The story centers on the cats Hopi, Toto, and Mao, who set out on the ocean in search of a place to establish a new town. The three friends plan to find the mysterious "Island of Stars." When they happen to chance upon it, they immediately get to work developing the island, but encounter many difficulties in their task.

Ayumi Fujimura will voice Hopi, Tomoko Ikeda will voice Toto, Mari Hino will voice Mao, and Daisuke Sakaguchi will voice Kotetsu.

Tomomi Maruyama is directing the anime at Animation Planet, and Mariko Kunisawa (Magimoji Rurumo, Hatsukoi Limited) is in charge of the series scripts. Yoichi Hayakawa (Granblue Fantasy the Animation) is the sound director, while Hiromi Kamekawa (Ocha-ken) is the music director. Include and PD/Ongaq are credited for both music and music production.

Yoshinori Enoki is credited as executive producer. Kazuto Imanishi, Naruatsu Baba, and Tsuneo Takechi are among the project planners, and Hiroshi Hagiwara, Kazunori Morisaki, and Fumihiro Ozawa are among the producers. Shōhei Yoshioka and Tsutomu Kaneko are the animation producers.

The opening theme song is titled, "Saa, Susume!" (So, Let's Go!), and the ending theme song is titled, "Asa Nyan D.A.N.C.E." (Morning Meow D.A.N.C.E.).

Colopl launched the Android and iOS smartphone game in 2014. In the game, players build and develop their own land, while raising crops and farm animals. They also interact with other cats who reside on the island.
