An awards gala will be held on the Festival's opening night on September 21. LA-AFF is working with Fan Connect Inc.'s "Unlocked" app, which streams shows and video chat with voice actors and other industry professionals, to livestream the awards for free.

The five award categories are as follows:

The festival is working with the "Behind the Voice Actors" website to host the awards. The website will announce the nominees on September 10.

Bryce Papenbrook and David Vincent will be among the hosts for the event. Fans will be able to submit questions to the hosts and guests during the stream.

The event will also have a behind-the-scenes preview of the process leading up to the Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions- Take on Me anime film's North American premiere, which will also be held on the festival's opening night.

This year's LA-AFF will take place from from September 21-23 at Regal L.A. Live: A Barco Innovation Center. Shōnen Hollywood: Holly Stage for You Complete Edition and King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO will also have their North American premieres at the event.

The festival had its inaugural event last year. The executive committee consists of Event company Rydgen Inc., film distribution company Azoland Pictures, and non-profit organization Japan Entertainment Exchange (JEX).
