Analyst: Nintendo is Top-Selling Game Publisher in U.S. for 2018 So Far

Octopath Traveler was best-selling game for July

North American market analysis company NPD Group reported on Wednesday that Nintendo was the top-selling game publisher in July in the United States, and is the top-selling publisher so far in 2018.

The Nintendo Switch was July's best-selling console in the United States. July was the console's seventh month to top the list since its launch in March 2017, and the first month since December 2017. The Switch was the only console to show year-on-year growth for the month of July.

NPD reported that Octopath Traveler for the Nintendo Switch was the best-selling game in the United States in July. While NPD's ranking includes both retail and digital sales for most games, the company does not measure digital sales from Nintendo platforms, so Octopath Traveler was retail only. Half of the other titles on the top ten list were also Nintendo games.

The top-three best-selling games for 2018 in the United States, as of the end of July, are Far Cry 5, God of War 2018, and Monster Hunter: World, none of which are for Nintendo platforms.
