1st in series of 3 'Best Games' OVAs debuted on Friday

Bandai Namco Arts began streaming two videos for the first episode the Tennis no Ōjisama BEST GAMES!! original video anime (OVA) project to accompany the OVA's theatrical release in Japan. The first video below previews the insert song "Eien" (Forever), performed by Junichi Suwabe and Ryotaro Okiayu as their respective characters Keigo Atobe and Kunimitsu Tezuka. The second video previews the theme piece "BEST GAMES!!" by Ayasa.

The OVA project retells the story of the franchise's top matches. The first OVA, which features a match between Tezuka and Atobe from the Kantō Tournament, began its limited two-week screening in Japan on Friday, and will ship in Japan on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on October 26. Ryotaro Okiayu, Junichi Suwabe, and Junko Minagawa are reprising their respective roles as Kunimitsu Tezuka, Keigo Atobe, and Ryōma Echizen.

The second OVA will feature two doubles matches: the first match is Shuichiro Oishi and Eiji Kikumaru's game against Hiroshi Yagyū and Masaharu Niō, while the second match is Ryō Shishido and Chōtarō Otori's game against Sahadaru Inui and Kaoru Kaidō. The third OVA will feature a match between Shūsuke Fuji and Akaya Kirihara from the Kantō Tournament.

Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Mayo Chiki!, Hayate the Combat Butler) is directing the project at M.S.C. Mitsutaka Hirota (The Prince of Tennis II, The Prince of Tennis II OVA vs. Genius 10) is returning to handle series composition and write the scripts. Akiharu Ishii is again designing the characters, and Cher Watanabe is returning to compose the music. The ending song is "You got game?," the first ending theme song for the first The Prince of Tennis anime, by Junko Minagawa as her character Ryōma Echizen.
