The anime will premiere on October 7, and new episodes will debut on TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Hokkaido, TV Setouchi, and TV Q Kyuushuu on Sundays at 7:00 a.m.

The main staff are all returning from the second and most recent television anime. Mashima's Fairy Tail manga series follows the adventures of world's most notorious mage guild, Fairy Tail. The manga launched in 2006 and ended last July.

Atsuo Ueda (Dr. Prisoner, Hajime Shachō Monogatari) launched the official sequel the original manga titled Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket manga app on July 25. Manga creator Kenshiro Sakamoto (Pitch-Black Ten) is drawing the Fairy Tail: Happy no Daibōken (Fairy Tail: Happy's Grand Adventure) spinoff manga, which launched on July 26. Ushio Andō is providing the story and art for the Fairy Tail City Hero spinoff manga, which is slated to debut this fall.
