New Pingu in the City Episodes Premiere on October 6

posted on by Karen Ressler
Polygon Pictures' CG-animated series premiered last October

NHK announced on Monday that new episodes of the CG-animated series Pingu in the City will begin airing on October 6, and unveiled a new visual. As before, the anime will air on NHK-E, both in the mornings at 9:20 a.m. and evenings at 5:25 p.m. JST.

The show will have a total of 52 seven-minute episodes. The first 26-episode season premiered on October 7 and ended on March 31.

Kimiko Ueno (The Royal Tutor) and Shigenori Tanabe (Kemono Friends) are writing the scripts and Naomi Iwata (Web Ghost PiPoPa, Midnight Horror School creator) is directing the series at Polygon Pictures. Ken Arai is composing the music.

In the story, Pingu and his family move from their small village to a big city, where there are many people with many different occupations. The ever-curious Pingu tries to join them at their jobs, but his mischievous side gets the better of him and he ends up messing things up.

Otmar Gutmann created the Swiss claymation series, which first debuted in 1986. A British company bought the rights to the series in 2001 and continued to create new episodes.
