20-minute new anime centers on high school days of Kabakura, Hanako

Ichijinsha revealed on Tuesday that Fujita's seventh Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku (Otaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii) manga volume will have a special edition that will bundle an anime Blu-ray Disc. The new anime will center on Kabakura and Hanako's high school days and will be about 20 minutes long. Ichijinsha revealed the below rough illustration drawn by Takahiro Yasuda, the character designer for the television anime. The completed illustration will appear as the jacket illustration for the volume.

The volume will ship on March 29.

The manga's story centers on the awkward romantic comedy between Narumi, a female office worker who hides her fujoshi lifestyle, and Hirotaka, a handsome and capable company man who is secretly a game otaku.

Fujita launched the manga on the image sharing website pixiv in 2014. In November 2015, the manga moved to Ichijinsha's Comic POOL digital manga magazine. The manga's sixth volume shipped on July 31, and the manga had 7 million copies in print (including digital sales) prior to this. Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga in English, and released second omnibus volume on June 12.

The manga inspired an 11-episode television anime adaptation that premiered on April 12. The anime streamed on Amazon Prime Video inside and outside of Japan.
