Space Battleship Tiramisu II's 1st Promo Video Reveals More Cast, Theme Song Info

posted on by Egan Loo
Aya Hisakawa, Megumi Han, Yusuke Shirai cast; 13-episode TV run plus 4 home video segments revealed

The official website for the television anime of Satoshi Miyakawa and artist Kei Itō's Uchū Senkan Tiramisu (Space Battleship Tiramisu) manga began streaming the first promotional video and a commercial for the second season on Wednesday. The video reveals more cast members and information about the theme songs for the new Space Battleship Tiramisu II season. The commercial also began airing in Japan on Wednesday.

The newly announced cast members include:

Aya Hisakawa as Ruburan Supiri, an adult woman representing the head of the Earth Federation's inspection unit.

Megumi Han as Fay Caraway, Isuzu's subordinate

Yusuke Shirai as Romeo Alpha, a rookie pilot assigned to the space battleship Tiramisu

Cast member Kaito Ishikawa will once again perform the opening theme song as his character Subaru Ichinose. The video and commercial above preview the new opening song "Gravity Heart." Ishikawa and other cast members (as their characters) perform a new version of the ending theme song "Durandal," which was written by hisakuni based on the anime's writer Satoshi Miyakawa's script. The CD with both songs will go on sale on November 28.

The website also announced that the season will have an "Earth-exclusive complete edition" Blu-ray and DVD release with 13 television episodes and four new animation segments on January 30. (The four home-video animation segments, clean opening animation sequence, promotional videos, and commercials total about 32 minutes of runtime.)

A "Universe Kansha-sai" special event will be held on September 29, and people who pre-order the Blu-ray and DVD releases there will receive mini-stand boards of the characters Subaru, Isuzu, Beyond, and Romeo in chibi form.

The science fiction gag comedy follows the everyday life of Subaru Ichinose, the ace pilot of the space battleship "Tiramisu." Since he cannot get used to being surrounded by older pilots, Subaru shuts himself in the cockpit of his personal ship "Durandal."

The visual above reads "Who do you think is the most idiotic among us?" and "The Earth was blue. Everyone was an idiot."

Takuya Eguchi will play the new character Subaru Beyond.

Additionally, a new character named Escalade Cadillac will appear in the second season. The staff have not yet revealed the voice actor for the character.

The new season will premiere on Tokyo MX on October 1 at 25:00 (effectively October 2 at 1:00 a.m.) before airing later that evening on Sun TV and BS11. Funimation will stream a dubbed version as it airs in Japan.

The first anime season premiered on April 2. Crunchyroll streamed the 13-episode series as it aired in Japan, and Funimation streamed an English dub. Hiroshi Ikehata (Robot Girls Z, Seiyu's Life!) directed the anime, Yū Satō handled the series composition, and Ai Yokoyama (Bayonetta: Bloody Fate) designed the characters. Studio GONZO provided the animation.

Writer Miyakawa (Haha o Nakushita Toki, Boku wa Ikotsu o Tabetai to Omotta.) and artist Itō launched the ongoing manga on Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch website in October 2015.

The manga inspired a stage play adaptation that ran in Tokyo and Osaka in July and August.
