Fighting game launches for PS4, Xbox One, PC in October

Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed on Wednesday through a video that Raphael Sorel will join the Soul Calibur VI fighting game as a playable character.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America describes the character:

As a master of the rapier, his fighting style is that of a fencer, delivering deadly blow to opponents through powerful thrusts and slashes. Processing great speed and agility, Raphael is at once difficult to hit and defend against. Yet his life has taken many twists and turns, from noble family member to living as a vagabond in Spain.

The game will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 18 in Japan, and on October 19 in the Americas and Europe.

The North American collector's edition will include a 120-page artbook, 12-inch Sophitia figure, metal case with soundbox, and the soundtrack on CD. The North American deluxe edition will include the soundtrack CD, metal case with soundbox, and a DLC season pass. The European collector's edition will include the figure, DLC season pass, and a digital soundtrack.

Previously confirmed playable characters include Mitsurugi, Sophitia, Grøh, Nightmare, Xianghua, Kilik, Ivy, Zasalamel, Siegfried, The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia, Taki, Yoshimitsu, Maxi, Talim, Astaroth, Voldo, Seong Mi-Na, Cervantes, and new character Azwel. Tira will be a pre-order bonus for the game, and she will also be available as a standalone DLC or as part of the game's Season Pass.

The game's "Libra of Soul" story mode allows players to create their own character.

The Soul Calibur series began with the Soul Blade game in 1995. The 3D fighter features characters who all utilize weapons in combat. The previous main installment in the series, Soul Calibur V, shipped for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.
