Author's Junk Boy manga inspired OVA in 1987

The Comic Natalie news website reported on Saturday that manga creator Yasuyuki Kunitomo passed away on September 20. He was 65.

Kunitomo is known for the 100-oku no Otoko (10 Billion Men) manga (pictured at right), which inspired a live-action TV series adaptation in 1995. Kunitomo also wrote the Shiawase no Jikan, Shin Shiawase no Jikan, and Junk Boy manga. Junk Boy inspired an OVA in 1987, which Manga Entertainment released on VHS in 1996.

Kunitomo was publishing the Ai ni Check-in manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Post magazine, but it had been on hiatus.
