Akiko Higashimura's Tokyo Tarareba Girls Manga Gets 3 New Chapters

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
New side story chapters will debut 1 chapter per month from October-December

The November issue of Kodansha's Kiss magazine revealed on Tuesday that Akiko Higashimura will publish three new "side story" chapters for her Tokyo Tarareba Girls (Tokyo Tarareba Musume) manga in the magazine's next three issues. The manga will feature on the cover of the next issue on October 25, and the first new chapter will also have color opening pages. The Tarare-Bar spinoff manga will also continue.

Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga digitally in English, and it describes the manga:

"I spent all my time wondering 'what if,' then one day I woke up and I was 33." She's not that bad-looking, but before she knew it, Rinko was thirty-something and single. She wants to be married by the time the Tokyo Olympics roll around in six years, but...that might be easier said than done! The new series by Akiko Higashimura erupts with sharp opinions on girls and tons of laughs!!

Higashimura launched Tokyo Tarareba Girls in Kiss in March 2014 and ended it in April 2017. Kodansha published the ninth and final compiled book volume in July 2017. The series was nominated for "Best General Manga" at last year's 41st Annual Kodansha Manga Awards, and it was nominated in the same category in 2016. The manga ranked #11 on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga for female readers in 2017, and it ranked #2 on the list in 2016. Da Vinci magazine ranked the series #19 on its "Book of the Year" list in 2016.

The manga series inspired a live-action television series that premiered in January 2017 and ended in March 2017.

Higashimura will launch a new manga in Kiss on October 25.
