Divine Gate Rei Smartphone Game Ends Service on December 11

GungHo Online Ent.'s app inspired TV anime series in 2016

The official website for GungHo Online Entertainment and Acquire's Divine Gate Rei smartphone game revealed on Thursday that the game will end service on December 11 at 11:00 p.m. JST. Sales of in-game "chips" are ending on Thursday.

The game launched under the title Divine Gate in September 2013 for Android and in October 2013 for iOS. The game rebranded as Divine Gate Rei with an update in September 2017.

In the "panel RPG," players explore dungeons and solve puzzles to uncover panels and reveal treasure or monsters.

The smartphone game inspired a 12-episode television anime adaptation that premiered in January 2016. Funimation streamed the series with English subtitles as it aired in Japan, and describes the story:

After the Divine Gate opened, our world and the worlds beyond became connected, bringing an era of chaos. To restore order, the World Council was formed and the Divine Gate fell into legend. Now, a select few have gathered to attempt to reach the Gate and remake the world. But what will they find when they open the door?

Funimation also began streaming the anime with an English dub in February 2016. Funimation released the anime on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in May 2017.
