Kickstarter campaign seeks US$180,000 stretch goal for season 2

Right Stuf's Kickstarter campaign to create an English-dubbed HD production of Emma: A Victorian Romance announced on Monday that Jessica Calvello (Aria the Animation's Aika S. Granzchesta, Attack on Titan's Zoe Hange) will play Eleanor in the dub.

The staff revealed audition videos for Calvello and previously announced cast member Wayne Grayson, the voice of William's father Richard Jones. The dub's director Joe Digiorgi clarified that there will be tonal adjustments from the auditions to the final version, and that the actors had not yet been given full previews of the characters in the show.

DiGiorgi (Aria, His and Her Circumstances, Comic Party, Boogiepop Phantom) is directing the dub at Headline Studios. Rhiannon Ross has joined the dub staff as an adviser for recording sessions to ensure the authenticity of English dialects, and Jim and Carolyn Johnson of AccentHelp are also consulting on the script adaptations and auditions.

The project already met its goal initial goal of US$110,000 to dub the first season, but is seeking to reach its US$180,000 stretch goal to dub the second season. As of press time, the project has raised US$150,153 with three days remaining.

Those who back the project at US$50 or more will receive a special edition Blu-ray Disc release (region A). A deluxe edition at US$100 will include a chipboard box, reproduction drawing, "Emma's journal," and art card set. The company will hold back the regular edition retail release for six months or longer after the rewards ship.

Right Stuf's Nozomi Entertainment describes Emma: A Victorian Romance:

In 19th-century London, class lines are sharply drawn, and the social standing to which people are born dictates the path their lives will follow. Emma, an honest and hardworking young maid, never felt her place in life to be a burden. But then she met William, a member of the gentry and the eldest son of a wealthy family. His warm smile and earnest affection threaten to capture her heart... but can love truly conquer all?

Emma: A Victorian Romance adapts Kaoru Mori's Emma manga. The first 12-episode season debuted in 2005, while the 12-episode second season debuted in 2007. Nozomi Entertainment released both seasons on DVD in 2008.
