In Hand Medical Manga Gets Live-Action TV Show

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Medical suspense manga about genius doctor launched regular serialization last October

Kodansha announced on Monday that Ao Akato's In Hand manga will receive a live-action television adaptation starring Tomohisa Yamashita (seen below) as protagonist Dr. Himokura. Shunichi Hirano is one of the directors for the series, and Yasuhiro Yoshida is one of the scriptwriters. The series will premiere on TBS' "Kinyō Drama" programming block in April, and will air on Fridays at 10:00 p.m.

The medical suspense manga's story centers on Dr. Himokura, a genius doctor who specializes in parasitic infections. While rich and prideful, he is also well-versed in a wide variety of fields, and readily tackles the medical mysteries he encounters every day.

Akato launched the manga as a short mini-series in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine in March 2016. Kodansha published a compiled book volume for the manga in July 2016. Akato launched the manga as a regular serialization in Evening last October.
