Senryū Shōjo Anime's 3rd Promo Video Previews Ending Song

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Series of shorts to air in "Animeism" programming block alongside Ao-chan Can't Study!

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Masakuni Igarashi's Senryū Shōjo (Senryū Girl) manga revealed the third promotional video and ending theme song for the anime on Thursday. The video previews Rikako Aida's ending theme song "Ordinary Love." Aida is also voicing the character Koto Ōtsuki in the show.

The anime will air on MBS, TBS, and BS-TBS' "Animeism" programming block, and will premiere on MBS and TBS on April 5 late at night at 1:55 a.m. (The Ao-chan Can't Study! anime will air in the same block at 2:10 a.m., so Senryū Shōjo will be a series of shorts).

The show stars:

Kana Hanazawa as Nanako Yukishiro

Tasuku Hatanaka as Eiji Busujima

Sayuri Yahagi as Amane Katagiri

Rikako Aida as Koto Ōtsuki

Misaki Kuno as Kino Yakobe

Sumire Uesaka as Tao Hanakai

Masato Jinbo (Shomin Sample, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 3rei!!, Restaurant to Another World) is directing the anime at CONNECT, and is also credited for supervising the series scripts. Maki Hashimoto (animation director on Restaurant to Another World, BONJOUR Sweet Love Patisserie, Yona of the Dawn) is designing the characters.

The manga centers on Nanako Yukishiro and Eiji Busujima. Nanako is a girl who can only communicate what she wants to say by using senryū (a poetry style similar to haiku more focused on humor). Eiji is an intimidating but kind boy who is a member of the school literature club. The manga tells the story of the pair's cheerful everyday interactions through 17 syllables.

Igarashi launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in October 2016. Kodansha published the manga's seventh compiled volume on December 17. The series has more than 500,000 copies in print. The manga ranked at #16 in the printed manga category of last year's Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in August.
