Mushishi, The Reflection Director Hiroshi Nagahama: 'My Next Project Will Air in N. America First'

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Nagahama also stated he would like to continue universe of The Reflection anime

Anime director Hiroshi Nagahama (Mushishi, Flowers of Evil, Detroit Metal City, The Reflection) stated at the "Hiroshi Nagahama - Past and Future" panel at Sakura-Con on Sunday that his next project will air in North America first. He added that a U.S. company approached him for the project. Nagahama did not give any other details about the project.

Nagahama also stated during the "Hiroshi Nagahama - Working with Stan Lee" panel on Friday at Sakura-Con that he would like to continue the universe he and Stan Lee created for the The Reflection anime project. He added that the first anime only showed part of that universe.

Nagahama had said at Tokyo Comic Con in December 2017 about The Reflection, "We are trying to make a sequel. We will do it!" He added at the time that he thought Lee would make an announcement for it at a later date. Lee then passed away in November 2018 at age 95.

Studio DEEN collaborated with Lee (Spider-Man, X-Men, Heroman) and his Pow! Entertainment company for the project. Lee is credited with the original work, and Pow! Entertainment and Studio DEEN are credited with the project planning. Nagahama co-created and directed the series at Studio DEEN, and he also provided the original character designs.

The anime premiered in July 2017 and had 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the series with English subtitles, and Funimation streamed an English dub. Lee played himself in the dub.
