Huwie Ishizaki performs theme song, ending song for June 14 film

The Anime! Anime! website began streaming a new trailer on Wednesday for For Whom the Alchemist Exists, the theatrical film adaptation of the The Alchemist Code (Ta ga Tame no Alchemist or For Whom the Alchemist) smartphone game. The trailer previews the film's theme song "Namida" (Tears) by Huwie Ishizaki.

The film will open in theaters in Japan on June 14.

Inori Minase will play the original character Kasumi Nagasaka in the film.

Ryota Ohsaka will reprise his role from the game as Edgar L. Leonhart. Other cast members include:

Masanori Takahashi (When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace) is directing the film. Toshizo Nemoto (Macross Delta, Log Horizon, Space Brothers, Steins;Gate) is writing the screenplay, Chikashi Kadekaru (Juni Taisen: Zodiac War, Scar-red Rider XechS) is designing the characters, and Akiyoshi Yasuda (★STARGUiTAR) is composing the music. Satelight is animating the film. In addition to the theme song, Huwie Ishizaki is also performing the film's ending song "Ano Natsu no Hi no Mahō" (That Summer Day's Magic).

Macross director Shōji Kawamori is serving as chief director on the project. Kawamori was first involved in the game when he directed the its opening video, which led to his involvement with the film. Kawamori previously stated that the film will be "not just for fans of the game, or anime, or fantasy, but will also expand on the game's world and stand alone as its own story."

Fuji & gumi Games released the game in January 2016. The game is a tactical role-playing game centered on seven characters and themed around The Seven Deadly Sins. The game is set on the continent of Babel, where the Tower of Babel looms large over seven nations. After the invention of alchemy led to its use as a tool of war that brought humanity to the brink of extinction, the seven nations struck an uneasy peace that led to a prohibition on alchemy for hundreds of years since. In the Continental Year 911, the nation of Lustrice broke the pact by assembling an army bolstered by alchemy, with ambitions of conquest over the continent. Led by Envylia, the six nations allied and struck down the rogue nation, casting alchemy once again to darkness. But 20 years after the war, alchemy once again begins to cause chaos in the land.

The game has more than 8 million downloads worldwide.
