posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime also adds Steve Aoki, MOGUAI, Andy Platts, Cornelius as composers

The official website for Carole & Tuesday, the new original anime by supervising director Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Kids on the Slope, Terror in Resonance) and anime studio BONES, announced on Wednesday that Shōta Aoi joins the cast as the character Pyotr (seen below), "a social media celebrity" who appears in the anime's seventh episode later on Wednesday.

In addition, the anime's YouTube channel also began streaming a video that revealed more composers participating in the anime, including Grammy-nominated producer Steve Aoki, German electronic music producer/DJ MOGUAI, Mamas Gun band member Andy Platts, and Japanese musician Cornelius.

The anime premiered on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block on April 10. The show also premiered on Netflix that same week in Japan only, with new episodes streaming on Thursdays on Netflix. Netflix has the exclusive worldwide streaming rights to the series, but the anime's website has not announced when the show will start streaming outside of Japan. The series marks the 20th anniversary of BONES and the 10th anniversary of Flying Dog.

Fuji Creative's website is listing the anime with a total of 24 episodes. The anime's staff had previously revealed that the anime would run for two cours (two quarters of a year).

The cast members include:

The website describes the story:

Fifty years have passed since mankind began migrating to the new frontier: Mars.
It's an age where most culture is produced by AI, and people are content to be passive consumers.

There's a girl.
Scrapping a living in the metropolis of Alba City, she's working part-time while trying to become a musician. She's always felt like something is missing.
Her name is Carole.

There's a girl.
Born to a wealthy family in the provincial town of Herschel City, she dreams of becoming a musician, but nobody around her understands. She feels like the loneliest person in the world.
Her name is Tuesday.

A chance meeting brings them together.
They want to sing.
They want to make music.
Together, they feel like they just might have a chance.

The two of them may only create a tiny wave.
But that wave will eventually grow into something larger...

Motonobu Hori is directing the anime, and Tsunenori Saito (Blast of Tempest, Sword of the Stranger) is designing the characters for animation. Canadian artist Mocky is composing the background music.

The staff also includes Eisaku Kubonouchi (Chocolat, "Hungry Days" commercials) as original character designer, Aya Watanabe (Carnation, Josee, The Tiger and the Fish) as scriptwriter, and Flying Dog as in charge of music production. The anime is collaborating with synthesizer and keyboard brand Nord and guitar maker Gibson.

Composers for the anime include: Jen Wood (This White Light), Maisa Tsuno (Akai Ko-en), Benny Sings, Lido, Evan “Kidd” Bogart, Tim Rice-Oxley (Keane), Eirik Glambek Bøe (Kings of Convenience), Nulbarich, Taku Takahashi, Maika Loubté, G.RINA, Thundercat, and Flying Lotus. Ann and Nai Br.XX perform both the opening and ending theme songs. Nulbarich wrote and composed the opening theme song "Kiss Me." Benny Sings wrote and composed the ending theme song "Hold Me Now."
