The official website for the anime adaptation of FUNA's Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! (Watashi, Nōryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne!) light novel series began streaming a promotional video for the anime on Thursday. The video reveals the cast and staff for the anime.

The cast includes:

Masahiko Ohta (Minami-ke, Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily, Gabriel DropOut) is directing the anime at project No.9. Takashi Aoshima, who has worked with Ohta on many of the series he directed, is in charge of series composition. Sō Watanabe (Momo Kyun Sword, Girls Beyond the Wasteland episode animation director) is drawing the character designs. Other staff members include:

The anime will premiere this October.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the novels and the manga, and it describes the story:

When she turns ten years old, Adele von Ascham is hit with a horrible headache–and memories of her previous life as an eighteen-year-old Japanese girl named Kurihara Misato. That life changed abruptly, however, when Misato died trying to aid a little girl and met god. During that meeting, she made an odd request and asked for average abilities in her next life. But few things–especially wishes–ever go quite as planned.

Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! will be the first anime project for an Earth Star Novel title.

FUNA launched the original novel on the "Shōsetsuka ni Narō!" (Let's Become Novelists!) website in January 2016, and the series is ongoing. Taibundo and Earth Star Novel published the first volume in print with illustrations by Itsuki Akata in May 2016, and the 11th volume shipped on July 16. Seven Seas Entertainment published the sixth volume on June 25.

Neko Mint launched the manga adaptation on Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star website in August 2016. The third compiled volume shipped in June 2018. Seven Seas Entertainment published the third volume on May 21.

Yuki Moriki launched a four-panel spinoff manga titled Watashi, Miochijō wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne! (Didn't I Say to Make My Everyday Life Average in the Next Life?!) on the Comic Earth Star website on July 11.
