Animedia Magazine Gets Additional Printing Before Issue's Debut for 1st Time

posted on by Alex Mateo
Issue features Detective Conan characters on cover

The September issue of Gakken Plus' Animedia magazine is getting an additional printing before its debut for the first time since the magazine launched in 1981. The issue shipped on Friday, and its front cover features the Detective Conan anime characters Tohru Amuro and Shuichi Akai. A high volume of pre-orders and orders prompted the issue's additional printing.

This issue marks the third time an Animedia issue is getting an additional printing. The first reprint was for the February 2016 issue, which included Mr. Osomatsu (Osomatsu-san) pinup art and a Detective Conan feature article. The June 2018 issue, which featured the Detective Conan anime characters Tohru Amuro and Conan Edogawa on the front cover, was the magazine's second reprint.

The Detective Conan manga has been running since 1994, and in August 2017 it became the first Weekly Shonen Sunday series to publish its 1,000th chapter. The manga's 96th compiled book volume shipped on April 10. The manga has spawned an ongoing television anime series and a yearly anime film series. The 23rd film in the series, Detective Conan: Fist of Blue Sapphire, opened on April 12.
