Aikatsu on Parade! TV Anime to Unite Previous Shows' Idols

posted on by Egan Loo
Anime premieres on October 5 with Rin Aira as new student Raki Kiseki

The "Best Friends! Special Live ~Thanks OK~" event announced in Yokohama on Saturday that the Aikatsu on Parade! television anime will premiere on Saturday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m. The anime will bring together characters from the previous Aikatsu! anime series. In addition, Rin Aira will play the new lead character Raki Kiseki.

Raki Kiseki is a second-year middle school student who transfers to Star Harmony Academy to become an idol. However, when she uses an Aikatsu Pass she received from her big sister (an Aikatsu engineer), something mysterious happens. Lots of doors appeared before her, and when she opens them, she meets Aikatsu idols she never knew before, such as Yume Nijino (Aikatsu Stars!). Raki vows to design her own premium dress and perform in it on stage.

In addition to Aira, the returning cast members include Akane Matsunaga as Aine Yūki (Aikatsu Friends!), Ibuki Kido as Mio Minato (Aikatsu Friends!), Sumire Morohoshi as Ichigo Hoshimiya (Aikatsu!), Shino Shimoji as Akari Ōzora (Aikatsu!), and Miyu Tomita as Yume Nijino (Aikatsu Stars!).

Shishō Igarashi is returning from Aikatsu Friends! to direct the new series at BN Pictures, and Yuuko Kakihara (Aikatsu Stars!, Aikatsu Friends!) is in charge of the series scripts. Satomi Watabe (Aikatsu Friends! ~Kagayaki no Jewel~, Escha Chron) is designing the characters. The franchise's Ryuichi Kimura is once again serving as supervisor, and Hiromi Kikuta is directing the sound. MONACA, onetrap, and DIGZ MOTION SOUNDS are contributing to the music soundtrack.

The Aikatsu! franchise began with the original arcade card game in October 2012. The game inspired a television anime that ran from 2012 to 2016, and three anime films. The second entry in the franchise, Aikatsu Stars!, inspired a television anime that premiered on TV Tokyo and its affiliates in April 2016. Aikatsu Stars! received an anime film in August 2016.

The third entry in the Aikatsu! franchise, Aikatsu Friends!, premiered in April 2018 along with the accompanying Aikatsu Friends! Data Carddass arcade game. A sequel television anime titled Aikatsu Friends! ~Kagayaki no Jewel~ (Shining Jewel) then premiered this past April with its own aracde game tie-in. The sequel is set two years after the story of Aikatsu Friends!, with the main character Aine Yūki now in high school.
