Games launch on same day as Dragon Quest XI S Switch game

Square Enix announced on Twitter on Monday that it will release the first three Dragon Quest games — Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line, and Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation — for the Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe on September 27. The games will launch in Japan on the same day, and the Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition Switch game will also launch simultaneously.

The games will be available digitally. These releases mark the first time that the first three Dragon Quest games are launching on a console in Europe.

The first three Dragon Quest games launched on Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4 in Japan in August 2017.

Chunsoft developed the first three Dragon Quest games, and Enix published them. Enix released the games on the Famicom in 1986, 1987, and 1988, respectively. Since then, Enix/Square Enix have ported the games to multiple platforms, including the Super Famicom, the Game Boy Color, Wii, and smartphones. Dragon Quest XI, the latest installment in the franchise, launched for both PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam in North America and Europe in September 2018. The game shipped in Japan for PS4 and Nintendo 3DS in July 2017.
