Yuruyuri Gets 4-Episode Miniyuri Net Anime

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Mini-series premieres on YouTube on September 25

The official website for the anime of Namori's Yuruyuri manga revealed on Wednesday that a new Miniyuri "mini anime" will begin streaming on YouTube on September 25. The anime will center on the daily lives of small versions of Yuruyuri characters. The series will have four episodes, and one new episode will debut each Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. JST (7:00 a.m. EDT).

The main cast members are reprising their roles from the previous anime.

Seiya Miyajima (BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! Pico) is the director, character designer, and chief animation director at DMM.futureworks and W-Toon Studio. Takahiro (Akame ga KILL!, Yuki Yuna Is a Hero) is writing the script. Masahiro Hayashi is director of photography, and Yasunori Ebina (Naruto Shippūden, Fruits Basket) is sound director. Yasuhiro Misawa is returning to compose the music.

The franchise is also inspiring a new original video anime (OVA) projectthat celebrates the manga's 10th anniversary. The Blu-ray Disc for the OVA will ship on November 13. The Blu-ray Disc will bundle a soundtrack CD that includes the "TV size" versions of the opening theme song "Yuyuyuri Tenya Wanya☆" and the ending theme song "Ripitte Chime♪."

The new project is titled "Yuruyuri," — pronounced "Yuruyuri ten." The "," or "ten" is a wordplay on the English word "ten" and the Japanese term for a punctuation mark.

The Campfire crowdfunding campaign for the OVA project launched on December 25 and ran until February 15. The campaign raised 87,936,374 yen (about U$825,410), exceeding its base goal of 10 million yen (about US$90,000). The backer rewards for the campaign include CDs with the anime's new opening and ending theme songs, a Blu-ray Disc of the OVA (limited to the crowdfunding campaign), limited event tickets, exclusive booklets, and a shikishi (illustration board) drawn and signed by Namori (for one winner of his or her favorite character).

Daigo Yamagishi (Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion the Animation assistant director, storyboards) directed the new anime at Lay-duce (Release the Spyce), with scripts by Takahiro (Release the Spyce). Kazutoshi Inoue (episode animation director on Release the Spyce) is the character designer and chief animation director. Pony Canyon is credited as music producer.
