My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness author tells story of her alcohol dependence

Publisher East Press released a new autobiographical manga by Kabi Nagata titled Genjitsu Tōhi Shitetara Boroboro ni Natta Hanashi (A Story of Me, Trying to Escape from Reality, Just to be Worn Out) on Thursday.

In the new manga, Nagata tells the story of her hospitalization last year due to pancreatitis and fatty liver from her drinking habit. Nagata recounts her frequenting a local pub in order to "escape reality," but her mental health worsened and she began leaning on alcohol until she was finally hospitalized. Nagata noted that she eventually wrote the story to contextualize her "breakdown after attempting to escape reality," after being asked by her father during her hospitalization if she was "also going to turn this into a story" and her initially deciding not to write about it.

Seven Seas Entertainment released Nagata's My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness in June 2017. The release has ranked on Amazon's list of Best Graphic Novels for 2017 and BookScan's monthly list of top selling comics. The company then released her My Solo Exchange Diary manga in June 2018.
