Crunchyroll to Stream Dubs for Magical Sempai, 'If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord,' 2 More Anime

Crunchyroll announced at its panel at Anime NYC on Saturday that it will stream English dubs for the Magical Sempai, If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord, Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun, and Ascendance of a Bookworm anime.

In addition, the company announced that it will livestream its fourth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards, which will be held at Crunchyroll Headquarters in San Francisco on February 15. Tickets for Crunchyroll Expo 2020, which will be held on September 4-6, 2020 at the San Jose Convention Center in California, will go on sale on November 26.

Crunchyroll also announced that it is producing a behind-the-scenes documentary with the creators of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, and the video will debut on November 22. The documentary will be similar to Crunchyroll's 25-minute Dr. Stone documentary that debuted in September. Crunchyroll is planning jewelry for The Rising of The Shield Hero, and the company's mascot Crunchyroll-Hime is 3D for the first time on Kizuna Ai's YouTube channel.

The television anime adaptation of AZU's Magical Sempai (Tejina Senpai) manga premiered on July 2. Each of the series' 12 episodes is 15 minutes long. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired with English subtitles.

Kodansha Comics is publishing the manga digitally, and it describes the story:

“I encountered her … a cute, but 'weird' sempai!” Magic-loving but stage-fright-addled, this sempai comes with a failure rate of 100%—but you can't take your eyes off her! The off-color, magical gag manga that's caused an uproar all over Japan is finally here! Here's to non-athletic hobbies!

Fumiaki Usui (episode director for Chaos;HEAd, Spice and Wolf, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere II) directed the series at Liden Films, and Rintarou Ikeda (Love and Lies, Hakyū Hōshin Engi, Love Tyrant scripts) both wrote and oversaw the series scripts. Eriko Itō (Love and Lies, Poco's Udon World) served as both character designer and chief animation director.

The television anime adaptation of CHIROLU's If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord (Uchi no Ko no Tame Naraba, Ore wa Moshikashitara Maō mo Taoseru Kamoshirenai.) light novel series premiered on July 4, and Crunchyroll streamed the 12-episode series as it aired.

J-Novel Club is releasing the light novels digitally in English, and it describes the story:

Dale is a cool, composed, and highly skilled adventurer who's made quite a name for himself despite his youth. One day on a job deep in the forest, he comes across a little devil girl who's almost wasted away. Unable to just leave her there to die, Dale takes her home and becomes her adoptive father. Devil or not, Latina is beyond adorable, and the adventurer soon finds himself head over heels with being a parent. But why was she out in the forest to begin with, and why does she carry the mark of a criminal?

Takeyuki Yanase (Himegoto, Onsen Yōsei Hakone-chan, In Another World With My Smartphone) directed the anime at Maho Film. Takao Yoshioka (WATAMOTE, High School DxD, Konohana Kitan) wrote and supervised the series' scripts. Hota., the artist of the novels' manga adaptation, is credited for design cooperation. Miyako Nishida, Toshihide Masudate, and Kaho Deguchi are all credited as character designers and chief animation directors.

Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun, the television anime of Osamu Nishi's Mairimashita! Iruma-kun manga, premiered on October 5, and it will have 23 episodes. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan.

The story of Mairimashita! Iruma-kun follows Iruma, a kind-hearted 14-year-old boy whose parents sell him to demons for their own selfish interests. However, the demon he is sold to has no grandson of his own, so he dotes on Iruma and sends him to demon school.

Makoto Moriwaki (Onegai My Melody - Kuru Kuru Shuffle!, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Dai-Ni-Maku, PriPara) is directing the anime at Bandai Namco Pictures, and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Princess Resurrection, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, Girls' Last Tour) is in charge of series composition. Akimitsu Honma (RIN-NE, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku) is composing the music. NHK and NHK Enterprises are credited for production.

The television anime of Miya Kazuki's "biblia fantasy" novel Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujō: Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiramasen) premiered on October 2, and it will have 14 episodes. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan.

J-Novel Club is releasing both the light novels and Suzuka's manga adaptation in English, and it describes the story:

A certain college girl who's loved books ever since she was a little girl dies in an accident and is reborn in another world she knows nothing about. She is now Myne, the sickly five-year-old daughter of a poor soldier. To make things worse, the world she's been reborn in has a very low literacy rate and books mostly don't exist. She'd have to pay an enormous amounts of money to buy one. Myne resolves herself: If there aren't any books, she'll just have to make them! Her goal is to become a librarian. This story begins with her quest to make books so she can live surrounded by them! Dive into this biblio-fantasy written for book lovers and bookworms!

Mitsuru Hongo (Kasumin, Crayon Shin-chan films, World Trigger) is directing the anime at Ajiado (Genshiken, Spirit of Wonder) with assistant director Yoshiki Kawasaki (Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON episode director), and Mariko Kunisawa (Hatsukoi Limited, Magimoji Rurumo) is in charge of the series scripts. Yoshiaki Yanagida (Genshiken, Spirit of Wonder) and Toshihisa Kaiya (Ruin Explorers - Fam & Ihrie, Spirit of Wonder, World Trigger) are designing the characters.
