Live-Action Death Come True Game Reveals Main Cast, 2020 Debut

Kanata Hongō stars as man with no memories wanted for murder

The official website for Too Kyo Games' "full motion video game" project Death Come True revealed on Tuesday that Kanata Hongō will play the main character Makoto Karaki. The game's staff also revealed that the game will launch for iOS and other devices in 2020.

Kazutaka Kodaka is directing the project and writing the scenario for the "live-action movie game." Hongō played Ryota Mitarai in the Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Despair Arc and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Hope Arc anime. Kodaka wrote and supervised the scenario for the two 2016 anime that served as a conclusion to the first two games in the Danganronpa series. Hongō's live-action film roles include Fullmetal Alchemist's Envy and Gantz's Jōichirō Nishi.

In the game's story, Makoto wakes up in a hotel with no memories. He has no idea who he is or why he is in the hotel. He sees news on the television and discovers that he is a suspect wanted for a case of serial murders. Makoto has a power that allows him to travel back in time when he dies. He sets out to uncover the truth.

The game's website features teaser images for five additional characters. The staff will reveal the game's cast one by one.

The game will feature "interactive content" that allows players to determine the outcome of the story based on their choices.

Kodaka co-founded the Too Kyo Games company in 2018, and the company is working on the Death March Club game, as well as a new anime in collaboration with Studio Pierrot.

Kodaka is perhaps most famous as the writer for Spike Chunsoft's Danganronpa adventure game series. The game series' latest installment, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, shipped in 2017.
