Cineworld confirms film will not be shown on April 13 and 15

The Cineworld cinema chain has sent the following message to customers who booked screenings of the Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul film in the U.K. and Ireland on April 13 and 15.

"Due to the recent coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Cineworld have made the decision to close all cinemas across the UK and Ireland until further notice. We are getting in touch to let you know that we have already refunded your upcoming booking including the booking fee and you should see the full transaction amount back in your account within 3 to 5 working days. We thank you for supporting our business, and look forward to welcoming you back to our cinemas when we reopen to enjoy a full slate of film releases."

In addition, Sentai Filmworks has announced that the film's North American release, which was also due in April, has been postponed to later in 2020. "The decision to delay the film's release impacts all film locations and screenings, including international sites... While we are disappointed by the delay, we have every intention of giving this film the theatrical release it deserves when the time is right and safety can be assured. Fans of MADE IN ABYSS should keep an eye on our social media pages and dedicated Made in Abyss site for updates.”

Sentai Filmworks is streaming an English dub trailer for the film.

Sentai Filmworks also describes the story:

Dawn of the Deep Soul continues the epic adventure of plucky Riko and Reg who are joined by their new friend Nanachi. Together they descend into the Abyss' treacherous fifth layer, the Sea of Corpses, and encounter the mysterious Bondrewd, a legendary White Whistle whose shadow looms over Nanachi's troubled past. Bondrewd is ingratiatingly hospitable, but the brave adventurers know things are not always as they seem in the enigmatic Abyss...

The 13-episode television anime series based on Akihito Tsukushi's Made in Abyss manga premiered in Japan in July 2017. The franchise is getting a sequel project.
