Original Team Reunites For First Time In 24 Years

First Of Four Action-Packed Episodes Arrive February 3

The fearless Captain Herlock returns to action when Geneon Entertainment debuts Captain Herlock: The Legend Returns: Volume 1. Based on the comics by Leiji Matsumoto (Galaxy Express 999, Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato), this represents the first collaboration between Matsumoto and director Taro Rin (Metropolis, X/1999, Reign: The Conqueror) since their teaming 24 years ago for the original “Captain Herlock” television series. Featuring an A-list of anime talents, Captain Herlock: The Legend Returns is produced by animation studio Madhouse (Chobits, X, Patlabor WXIII), with scripts by Sadayuki Murai (Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress), character designs by Nobuteru Yuuki (Heat Guy J) and music by Takayuki Hattori (Nadesico). Featuring four action-packed episodes, Captain Herlock: The Legend Returns: Volume 1 arrives on DVD February 3 and is priced at $29.98. The new series was released in Japan beginning in 2002 through 2003.

Captain Herlock: The Legend Returns Synopsis:
Tadashi enjoyed living like a punk on the Planet of Wastes, but then he came home to find four possessed corpses standing over his father's dead body. As they attack Tadashi, the fearless Captain Herlock, one of the last Space Pirates, saves Tadashi's life and recruits him to pursue their strange enemy in an attempt to rescue the promised land – Earth.

Synopsis:

Claus and Lavie deliver Alvis to airship Silvana's captain, Alex Row. But much to Claus' anger, Alex Row accepts Alvis inhumanely into Silvana and leaves the duo and their damaged ship behind. Claus and Lavie fly to Silvana to retrieve Alvis, but the airship is savagely attacked by Guild-controlled star-shaped vessels. Claus and Lavie are forced to take on the attackers on a borrowed Silvana vanship. Silvana is severely damaged. Dio Eracula of the Guild flagship notices Claus' unusual flying talents, and vows to have a duel with him.
