ADV Announces June 7 Releases

ADV ANNOUNCES JUNE 7 RELEASES

HOUSTON, May 23, 2005 —ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime in North America, is pleased to announce a riot of top-selling anime releases for June 7, 2005: including the notorious best-seller Gantz 5, the smash hit DNAngel 5, and the girls-with-guns spectacle Madlax 2, plus E's Otherwise 3, Saiyuki Double Barrel Collection 3, and Petite Princess Yucie 5!

GANTZ: PROCESS OF ELIMINATION

Fifth Volume Shocks, Awes June 7

The most controversial anime series of 2005 ups the ante when Gantz: Process of Elimination goes on sale June 7. Notorious for its off-the-wall premise and over-the-top violence, the fifth volume of Gantz promises a bloodbath as a biker gang, a grandmother, and a small child enter the deadly game.

Described as “gruesome” (Anime Source), “sadistic” (Anime Daze), and “addictive” (Active Anime), Gantz is one of the top-selling series of 2005. With a new release every month and an unusually low price, the series has developed a following well beyond the anime fan community, with first-month sales on volume three exceeding those on the first volume by a significant margin. Retailers have struggled to keep the new disks on the shelf.

Directed by Ichiro Itano and produced by GONZO Digimation (Chrono Crusade, Full Metal Panic!), Gantz is based on the ultra-violent, totally twisted manga series by Hiroya Oku (HEN, Zero One). If anything, the anime series surpasses its source material for sheer spectacle – so much so that it had to be heavily edited for broadcast on Japanese television. ADV Films has restored Gantz to its original, uncut form for its DVD release, much to people's surprise.

Synopsis: The violence erupts as the second game not only pits the resurrectees against aliens, but against each other as well! As the new group of players fight amongst themselves, a newer and deadlier alien menace is thrown against them. Against the sonic screams and ever increasing numbers of their new opponents, the enhanced power suits and weapons provided by the Gantz are no guarantee of survival... and for the unsuited Kurono the likelihood of survival is almost non-existent!

Gantz: Process of Elimination (SRP $17.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including episodes 9 and 10, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. Extras include clean opening animation, clean closing animation, the original Japanese TV spots, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.

Limited Collectors Edition Still Available!

The Gantz Collectors Box is still available while supplies last. This special collectors edition contains the first volume of Gantz, plus a stunning custom series art box with full color artwork sized to hold the first seven volumes in the hit series (SRP $39.98).
