HOUSTON, June 24, 2005 —ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime in North America, is pleased to announce two exciting titles set to hit the streets on July 26: the first volume of the new anime series Yugo the Negotiator and the hit Korean comedy feature film Marrying the Mafia.

YUGO THE NEGOTIATOR – PAKISTAN 1: DEPARTURE

Anime Takes On Terrorism In This Taut Political Thriller

Special Introductory Pricing for the First Volume

On July 26 ADV Films presents American audiences with a different sort of anime, when Yugo the Negotiator – Pakistan 1: Departure is released on DVD. And to ensure that this important series reaches as many fans as possible, the first volume is being offered at the low introductory suggested retail price of just $14.98.

Yugo the Negotiator is an anime tour of the world's hot spots, where terrorism is hatched and kidnappings are commonplace. Our hero is not a dashing spy or unstoppable soldier, but a globe-trotting negotiator whose mastery of multiple languages, psychology, and iron will set him apart from all others in his trade. Yugo the Negotiator strives for a degree of realism rare in anime.

Based upon the original manga by Shinji Makari and Shu Akana, Yugo the Negotiator breaks into a fresh new genre of anime by featuring a highly realistic storyline and setting. Sometimes, a strong wit and a sharp tongue are the deadliest weapons a soldier can wield.

Synopsis: A hostage has been taken in Pakistan; the chances of his survival are slim to none. With keen intellect, quick wits and indomitable willpower, Yugo Beppu has earned a reputation as the world's leading private negotiator. When the negotiations in Pakistan break down, Yugo is called to the scene by the hostage's beautiful daughter to deal with a fierce anti-government faction. Walking a dangerous line between the powerful military and ruthless guerrillas, it will take more than words for Yugo to survive in the blazing desert.

Yugo the Negotiator – Pakistan 1: Departure (SRP $14.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including episodes 1 through 3, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. The disk is packed with extras, including a video segment “What is Yugo the Negotiator?,” an interview with the original story's author, Shinji Makari, and Character Designer Shu Akana, an interview with Directors Kishi & Hanai, and an interview with Japanese voice actor Takashi Hagino (Yugo), and a special segment,

“The Japanese Depiction of Pakistan: Comments on Yugo” by Cultural Advisor Nawaz Charania & ADR Director Scott McClennen, plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.

MARRYING THE MAFIA

The Top-Grossing Korean Comedy Is Finally Available in America!

ADV is proud to present yet another hilarious comedy straight out of Korea, the blockbuster feature film Marrying the Mafia, available on DVD July 28. This romantic comedy with a mob movie flair is set to be remade as a Hollywood feature. ADV is presenting the original in an exclusive anamorphic widescreen version for the DVD release.

Welcome to the family! This is usually something everyone likes to hear, but for Dae-suh, it means the end to his perfectly normal life.

He has the perfect pedigree, the perfect resume, the perfect girlfriend; everything is perfectly perfect. But one morning, Dae-suh wakes up next to a beautifully perfect stranger, Jin-kyung. They are both perfectly confused, and have absolutely no idea how they ended up in bed together. Regardless of what happened or what didn't happen, Dae-suh is struggling to do the right thing. Or shall we say, he is “forced” to do the right thing.

You see, Jin-kyung, her three older brothers and her father are not your average, respectable Korean household – they just so happen to be one of the most powerful mob families in the country. Her father has always wanted to bring (in a legitimate way) prestige and honor to the family – and well, Dae-suh is the ticket. All Jin-kyung's brothers have to do is get these two perfect strangers to fall in love. And if they can't get it to happen, then they will have to make it happen!

Marrying the Mafia (SRP $19.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release presented in both English 5.1 and Korean 2.0 with English subtitles. It is being presented in an exclusive widescreen anamorphic version.
