Guests of Honor at AnimeNEXT

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 5, 2006 -- AnimeNEXT 2006 announces Japanese animation guest of honor Rintaro and Masao Maruyama, manga artist and writer Harold Sakuishi, and musical j-rock guests D'espairsRay on June 16-18, 2006.

AnimeNEXT 2006 is a hosted convention for fans, by fans, celebrating Japanese animation, manga, J-pop, and Asian pop culture. This anticipated event will be taking place at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ, only minutes away by car or public transportation from New York City.

Highlighted events include Autograph Sessions, Art Show & Artists' Alley, Anime Music Videos, Cosplay, Dance, Game Shows, Guest and Industry Panels, Karaoke, Manga Library Room, Tabletop Gaming, Video Gaming, Videos, and Workshops.

Animation Guest of Honor Rintaro began his career working along side Osamu Tezuka, The God of Manga. Rintaro worked on such renowned series as Alakazam the Great, Jungle Emperor Leo and Astro Boy in various roles. Since his early work, Rintaro has worked as a Director, Producer, Character Designer, Screenplay writer, Animator and Storyboard Artist through out his career. His animation credit include well known productions including X (Movie), The Phoenix, Metropolis, Harmegedon, Galaxy Express 999 Movie, Doomed Megalopolis, Dagger of Kamui, Paradise Kiss, Pet Shop of Horrors, Labyrinth and many others.

Masau Maruyama has worked on legendary shows from through out the history of anime. His credits include Biohunter, Birdy the Mighty, BoogiePop Phantom, Dagger of Kamui, Demon City Shinjuku, DNA2, Doomed Megalopolis, Jubei-chan, Master Keaton, Metropolis, Neo-Tokyo, Paradise Kiss, Perfect Blue, Sakura Wars, The Phoenix, Trigun, X (Movie), Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie, Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie 2, DNA2, Gunslnger Girl, Ninja Scroll and many more.

Harold Sakuishi is a mangaka, known for his most recent and currently running serial 'Beck', a series set in the world of underground rock. Sakuishi is a fan of independent rock himself, and more particularly British rock groups of the 1960s and 1970s. These musical influences lead him to the creation of Beck, each volume selling over 350,000 copies in Japan.

D'espairsRay, currently #1 on the Japanese Indie Chart and one of the biggest and most impressive visual acts from Japan, performs live on Friday, June 16th. Their appearance follows their successful Japanese release of their newest single Kogoeru Yoru Ni Saita Hana.

American-based voice guests include Vic Mignogna, Colleen Clinkenbeard, Laura Bailey, Lauren Goodnight, Bill Rogers, Kari Wahlgren, Mike Pollock, Caitlin Glass, and Marc Thompson. Industry guests includes David Williams, Toshifumi Yoshida, and Trish Ledoux. Industry participants include ADV Films, Animation Collective, Del Ray Manga, FUNimation Entertainment, Media Blasters, and Tokyopop. The AnimeNEXT 2006 exhibitors include Anime Castle, Anime Pavillion, Buy Rite DVD, Image Anime, Sasuga Books, Wizzywig, and Yes Anime.
