1800 Con-Goers at Montreal's First Otakuthon

Montreal, Quebec, Canada (June 18, 2006) - This first edition of
Otakuthon
(June 10th and 11th, 2006) was a great success! Although convention
organizers had initially expected a total attendance of between 500 to
600
people, otakus everywhere united in Montreal to enjoy anime and
Japanese
culture over the weekend with a total attendance of over 1800
con-goers.
Not even a heavy rainstorm on Saturday dampened the enthusiastic
turnout
for the event.

We would like to thank all the special guests who attended our
convention:
Irulanne and her friends, Sara E. Mayhew, Delphine Lévesque Demers,
Christopher Macdonald from Anime News Network, Claude J.Pelletier from
Protoculture Addicts, Tam-U and Emru Townsend and René Walling from fps
magazine, Joany Dubé-Leblanc from Yume Dream, Johnny from Boxed Rice
Productions, Gisele Lagacé from Penny and Aggie and of course voice
actor
Matt Hill. We would also like to thank our staff and volunteers –
without
each and every one of you we wouldn't have been able to run everything
as
smoothly as it did. Finally, we would like to thank all attendees:
thanks
to you, we will definitely hold Otakuthon 2007. We hope to see you all
next year!
