The series is produced by GDH K.K. group company Studio GONZO in collaboration with FUNimation Entertainment and Spike TV.

Afro Samurai is a five-part animated series which premiered in the U.S. on Spike TV in January. Adapted from Takashi Okazaki's manga, the series chronicles Afro Samurai's relentless quest to avenge his father's brutal murder. Featuring music by renowned hip-hop artist The RZA and starring Academy Award-nominated actor Samuel L. Jackson as the Afro Samurai, the series is a groundbreaking fusion of American hip-hop and classic samurai story. Jackson also executive produces the series.

FUNimation Entertainment is hosting the premiere of never before seen animation of the series as well as a panel discussion featuring the creative team behind the cutting edge animation on Saturday, February 24 at 12:00 pm. Panelists include creator Okazaki, director Fuminori Kizaki and producers Taito Okiura and Eric Calderon. FUNimation Entertainment is launching Afro Samurai on DVD on May 22 including a Director's Cut edition which will include exclusive footage seen at this event.

The series realized ratings success with Spike TV's male demographic with an average audience of 696,000 viewers over the first run of all five episodes. Also, Spike TV will present all five episodes back-to-back as part of a prime time special on Wednesday, March 28 at 10:00 pm ET/PT.

Afro Samurai apparel is available now by Fifth Sun which has developed a high quality line of tops for retailers. The designs integrate a fusion between hip hop and samurai cultures and feature specialty treatments and off-placement printing.
Fifth Sun worked closely with FUNimation and GDH to time the release of the apparel line with an exclusive launch at national specialty retailer, and trendsetter, Hot Topic in January.
