ANIME EXPO® 2007 ANNOUNCES: BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Nation's Largest Convention Announces the Theme of Music and
Offers New Talent Competition


Anaheim, California (April 27, 2007) — Love Anime? Love Music? Got a Band? With music as the theme of this year's Anime Expo®, the nation's largest convention will be hosting the first ever Anime Expo® Battle of the Bands contest. This exciting and new program will provide amateur bands the chance to perform song choices from two categories (Anime TV series/OVA/Movie and Anime Themed Videogame) to attendees at the highly anticipated 2007 convention June 29-July 2 at the Long Beach Convention Center. Anime Expo® Battle of the Bands will be held on the Animatsuri Summer Festival stage from 5:00 pm til 8:00 pm on June 29, 2007 (Friday). Deadline for band submissions is June 1st, 2007 with the top finalists contacted and announced on June 15th. Each audition must include either an audio (CD) or video (DVD/VHS) recording, a picture of all band members and the official entry form (downloadable off the Battle of the Bands website: http://anime-expo.org/botb/index.php?page=about). Additional rules are as follows:
• Auditions must be received no later than June 1st, 2007
• Auditions must include an audio & video recording of your performance and a listing of band members & song info (song name, relevance, etc.).
• Song choices must fall below one of the following categories:
o Anime TV series/OVA/Movie (Opening/Ending/Main Theme/Soundtrack)
o Anime-Themed Videogame (Opening/Ending/Main Theme/Soundtrack)
• Performances must be no longer than 5 min. in length.
• No more than 10 members per band allowed.
• All band members must be present in the recording.
• No professionals are allowed to participate. Any performers who are found out to be as such will be disqualified.
• There must be at least one instrument used during the performance, no acapella.
• The top finalists will be contacted by Battle of the Bands staff by June 15th to confirm their participation in the at-con performance. A list of the finalists will be posted on the Anime Expo® and Battle of the Bands websites on June 1st.
• If chosen as one of the finalists, your performance piece will be the same as your audition piece.



Current Anime Expo® 2007 Guests of Honor include Tetsuro Araki, Masaru Kitao, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and ORESKABAND and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn.

All registrants who register before the end of April are automatically placed into the drawing. Those who have already pre-registered are also automatically entered into this drawing. Secure pre-registration can be done via online at https://secure.rhq.com/anime/anime2007/attreg/index.cgi.
