FanimeCon Announces Charity Auction to Benefit the Diana J. East Breast Cancer Foundation
SAN JOSE, CA / May 10, 2007 – FanimeCon will hold a Charity Auction to benefit the Diana J. East Breast Cancer Foundation in the fight against breast cancer. The silent auction will begin on Friday in the dealer's room while the live auction will be held on Sunday of FanimeCon 2007 (May 27th) on Stage Zero at 3:00 p.m. of the San Jose Convention Center with all proceeds going to the Diana J. East Breast Cancer Foundation.
Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55, and 1 out of every 8 women develop breast cancer every year. Unfortunately, both its cause and the means for its cure remain undiscovered. FanimeCon has chosen the Diana J. East Breast Cancer Foundation as the beneficiary of the proceeds from the Charity Auction in hopes to increase awareness and to demonstrate its support in the fight against breast cancer.
The Charity Auction features unique and rare items, such as artwork specifically designed for the Charity Auction, specialty anime goods, and autographed music albums from featured artists of Fanime MusicFest 2007. The majority of the items have been generously donated by FanimeCon 2007's Guests of Honor and attending dealers.
Held annually at FanimeCon, the Charity Auction raised a total of $1400 for the 2nd Harvest Food Bank in 2006, in addition to donating multiple barrels of canned foods collected from FanimeCon attendees.
