ADV Announces New Gantz Collection, Final Guyver & More: Nov 6 Releases

ADV ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER 6 RELEASES

Collectible New GANTZ Collection Leads off Stellar Lineup

HOUSTON, September 6, 2007 – ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime outside of Japan, is pleased to present four great new titles, including new volumes of Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy and Guyver, a bargain-priced Double Pack of Burn Up & Plastic Little, and finally the ultimate Gantz collection! All four great new titles are set to hit stores November 6.

GANTZ PERFECT SCORE COLLECTION

“Ultra-Violent, Nihilistic and Addictive” - MTV.com

A tsunami of blood, guts, and stone-cold nihilism make Gantz the most notorious and controversial anime series of the 21st century. Now, just in time for the holidays, ADV salutes this cavalcade of ultraviolence with the Gantz Perfect Score Collection! This limited edition collection features every episode of Gantz in a beautiful black orb, just like the cruel puppetmaster at the center of the series. This is the must-have anime collectible of 2007, and it's in stores November 6!

Described as “gruesome” (Anime Source), “sadistic” (Anime Daze), and “addictive” (Active Anime), Gantz was one of the most popular new series of 2005 and 2006. The series has developed a following well beyond the anime fan community, and retailers have struggled to keep the new disks on the shelf. “This is a series that leaves you in awe the entire time” (Anime News Network).

Directed by Ichiroh Itano and produced by GONZO Digimation (Chrono Crusade, Full Metal Panic!), Gantz is based on the ultra-violent, totally twisted manga series by Hiroya Oku (HEN, Zero One), soon to be released in the United States by Dark Horse Comics. If anything, the anime series surpasses its source material for sheer spectacle – so much so that it had to be heavily edited for broadcast on Japanese television. ADV Films has restored Gantz to its original, uncut form for its DVD release, and the result is nothing short of horrific.

Synopsis: He thought he was dead. The last thing Kei remembers is the train running over his own body. But now he is in a room filled with strangers, all resurrected by a strange, featureless black sphere known only as the Gantz. Caught in a strange realm between life and death, Kei and the others must undertake brutal missions that the Gantz assigns. Otherwise, none of them will live long enough to leave the room. Is it a game? A nightmare? All Kei knows is that this reprieve from death may only be temporary. If they fail, they will die again.

Gantz Perfect Score Collection (SRP $99.98 DVD) a DVD-only thin-pack release containing the entire 26 episode series, presented in anamorphic video with both English 5.1 sound and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. This collection contains all the on-disc extras presented with the original DVD series, including clean opening and closing animation, interviews with the production staff, original Japanese TV promo spots, and much more!

GUYVER: THE BIOBOOSTED ARMOR
ARMOR OF THE GODS

ADV Films is pleased to present the soul-shattering conclusion of the hit series Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor. Volume seven, Armor of the Gods, goes on sale November 6.

The Guyver has been a cult-classic for over 20 years, spawning over 150 manga chapters, two live-action movies, an OVA, and a short series. Now, Director Katsuhito Akiyama (Bubblegum Crisis) breathes new life into the dark masterpiece, treating us to the most complete and captivating story to date.

Synopsis: The Relic has been destroyed and Sho is presumed dead. Apparently, the world now belongs to Chronos. A year has passed, and with both Guyvers missing in action, Chronos' grip on society grows tighter. Fugitives Tetsuro and Mizuki are forced into hiding, scrounging desperately for any news that Sho is still alive. When Chronos agents close in, they're forced to rely on Aptom to protect them from their Zoanoid adversaries. But what is his motive? Now, Makishima has emerged as the leader of an anti-Chronos movement and scours the globe for a mysterious chrysalis that he believes holds the secret to Sho's disappearance. He is forced into combat with a reoptimized ZX-Tole with seemingly unlimited power. With Aptom torn to shreds and Makishima utterly overpowered, Earth's only hope lies in a new Guyver which must be born to pierce the darkness of Chronos. Humanity's secrets will be unveiled in this electrifying conclusion of Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor.

Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor – Armor of the Gods (SRP $29.98 DVD) is an anamorphic DVD-only release including the episodes 24 through 26, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles.
