New York Comic Con Adds Show Manager

Norwalk, CT, October 22, 2007: New York Comic Con (NYCC) has announced that it has appointed senior staff member Lance Fensterman to the position of Show Manager for NYCC. In his new position, Fensterman will work closely with Greg Topalian, who launched and has been running NYCC since its inception. “I am delighted that we have someone as capable and knowledgeable as Lance to step in and share responsibility for NYCC,” notes Topalian. “Lance has been at Reed Exhibitions for a year and a half and in that short time he has done a remarkable job managing BookExpo America, one of the most visible and high profile shows in Reed's portfolio.”

In making the announcement, officials at Reed Exhibitions, which organizes both NYCC and BEA, note that Topalian has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Fensterman has been promoted to Vice President. Topalian will continue supervising Launch Pad, among other duties, and Fensterman will continue as Event Director for BEA.

“New York Comic Con has experienced exponential growth since its debut in 2006,” Topalian continues. “With this kind of rapid growth, we simply need more experienced resources at the top. The addition of Lance to our NYCC staff allows us to take advantage of the synergy that exists between BEA and NYCC, while at the same time giving us the opportunity to remain committed and focused on the comics and pop culture industries.” Mr. Fensterman is a former bookseller with many years of independent, entrepreneurial work under his belt.

In commenting on his appointment, Fensterman notes: “I am thrilled to have this chance to bring my own vision and commitment to New York Comic Con. I have dedicated myself for the past 18 months to expanding boundaries for BookExpo America and this will be one of my top priorities at NYCC, as well. The modern day convention should offer limitless possibilities and opportunities for access; not only to top creators and talent, but to exclusive and privileged information as well. I see our role as facilitating and enhancing this access, while broadening overall communication within the industry.”
