THE WALLFLOWER
LESSON 1: MY FAIR BISHONEN

The Hit Manga Gets Mugged By the Director of Excel Saga

ADV Films is pleased to bring you The Wallflower Lesson 1: My Fair Bishonen, the first installment in a six part DVD series that pits four beautiful boys vs. the goth chick from Hell! It's the ultimate hostile makeover, and Lesson 1 goes on sale December 18.

The Wallflower is based on the long-running manga series by Tomoko Hayakawa, 13 volumes of which have already been published in North America by Del Rey Manga. The hit manga was adapted by Shinichi Watanabe a.k.a. “Nabeshin,” the comedy auteur responsible for such off-the-wall hits as Excel Saga and Nerima Daikon Brothers. This unconventional tale of a half pint Pygmalion and the four pretty boys charged with turning her into a lady plays right to Nabeshin's strengths, and his adaptation is imbued with a manic energy fans will recognize on sight!

Synopsis: After years of sponging off a fabulously wealthy older woman, four ridiculously beautiful boys are confronted with the most horrifying challenge ever: use their bishi skills to turn their benefactor's socially challenged niece into a beautiful young lady or start paying rent! And this isn't just any ugly duckling they're facing; she's a psycho, paranoid, neurotic horror movie obsessed goth chick with a fetish for anatomical dummies, bad skin and a total ignorance of all things feminine! (And those are her BETTER points!) But hey, rent's expensive and job openings for pretty boys are scarce, so our poor heroes are going to have to suck it up and attempt the ultimate combined exorcism/spa/makeover from hell! It's a Queer Eye FTSG of doom as the infamous Nabeshin unleashes The Wallflower!

The Wallflower Lesson 1: My Fair Bishonen (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including the first five episodes, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. Extras include the on-air opening for episodes 1-13, plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.
