GDH Announces P2P Distribution of Animation Titles

Evaluating effectiveness of P2P system through charged distribution
2007.12.26
GDH K.K. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Shinichirō Ishikawa, Securities Code: TSE Mothers 3755, hereafter GDH) has announced that animation titles produced by its subsidiaries GONZO K.K. (Head Office: Nerima-ku, Tokyo, Managing Director: Junji Fujita, hereafter GONZO) and GONZO Rosso K.K. (Head office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Managing Director: Hideki Moriya, hereafter GONZO Rosso) will be distributed online via P2P* network for a limited period.

GDH will provide SPEEDGRAPHER, and a new title to be released in the coming spring, The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk -, both of which were produced by GONZO, and Project PAPO produced by GONZO Rosso on its exclusive website (bb.gonzo.co.jp) using “SkeedCast,” a platform for digital content distribution developed by DREAMBOAT Co., Ltd (Head office: Kyoto-shi, Kyoto, CEO: Kei Mima). This venture will serve to evaluate how the utilization of P2P networks can contribute to reduction of server load and costs, and to assess the feasibility of P2P file sharing scheme as a new business model by distributing not only promotional footage but also animation episodes for a fee.

In response to the expansion of Internet/broadband usage and the resulting advance in video distribution technologies, GDH will continue to experiment new video distribution systems that allow delivery of high resolution/quality content, and explore effective application of online network.

This distribution service is provided to assist a deductive experiment conducted by the “P2P Network Experiment Council” supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
