Yasumicon 2008 Announces Its Special Guests and Events
MIAMI, FL – JULY 17, 2008 – Yasumicon, South Florida's largest free anime convention, is back for its 6th year, August 1st – 3rd, 2008, at FIU University Park Campus in Miami, Florida. This year, Yasumicon is bigger and better than ever, with panel discussions, gaming, vendors, artists, cosplay/costume contests, LARP, maid café, special musical and industry guests, and more. Yasumicon is proud to announce the following special guests and events:
BRANDON POTTER – The voice of Shanks in FUNImation's One Piece, Mr. Potter also does ADR Script and has done ADR Voice Direction. His other credits include Barrett in Glass Fleet, Gen Fudou in Aquarion, Kenji Harima in School Rumble, and Sven Volfied in Black Cat.
ARMCANNON – Performing original compositions as well as covers of popular video game and movie music, this five man rock band out of Buffalo, New York, is a musical force to be reckoned with.
BENJAMIN BEAR – Performing nerdcore hip-hop since 2003, and just in from Key West, Florida, Benjamin Bear will rock the house for this year's event. Then he'll team up with JAYLYN COFFIN to form HOT JUPITER and do it again.
AARON PABONE – A hilarious standup comedian whose work is mostly centered around anime and otaku life, Aaron has performed at various places throughout Florida and will be our official host for this year's show.
COSPLAY COLISEUM – Fusing anime and cosplay with Live Action Role Playing, the Cosplay Coliseum is a staged tournament using foam weapons in which contestants can choose to play in or out of costume for cold hard cash and the title of Yasumicon Champion of 2008.
ROYAL LINEN MAID CAFÉ – Want a bite to eat? Stop into our maid café for lunch, or just an afternoon snack, and get the full otaku experience. Okaerinasaimase Goshujinsama!
ANIME THEATER – Catch BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHT on Blu Ray, and watch other hot new titles from some of the biggest companies, including Bandai-Entertainment, FUNImation, and Viz-Pictures.
GAME ROOM – Run by NOOBIE GAMES, Yasumicon's game room this year features free play and cash tournaments on today's hottest titles.
