Hugo Nomination Period Begins

Anticipation: Press Release #16, January 2009
Hugo Nomination Period Begins

The nominating period for the 2008 Hugo Awards has begun. All nomination ballots must be postmarked by February 28, 2009. In order to participate you must have purchased a Denvention 3 or Anticipation membership by January 31st, 2009.

The Hugo nomination process for works published or otherwise released in 2008 is open to current members of the World Science Fiction Society, which means supporting or attending members of the 2008 Worldcon (Denvention 3) or the 2009 Worldcon (Anticipation). See http://anticipationsf.ca/English/Membership for more information on becoming a supporting or attending member of Anticipation. Both attending and supporting members have the right to vote for the Hugo Awards and in Worldcon Site Selection for 2011.

Various fans and organizations maintain recommendation lists of likely candidates, including Science Fiction Awards Watch, the New England Science Fiction Association, and the hugo_recommend LiveJournal community. Anticipation will be presenting a special category Hugo for Best Graphic Story (for more details, consult the press release here: http://anticipationsf.ca/Press/PressRelease11). WSFS members are encouraged to nominate up to five works/individuals in each category that they believe are worthy of a Hugo. The most popular nominees will go forward to the Final Ballot.
