Bandai Entertainment to Release Gundam 00 Manga

February 10 , 2008 (Cypress, CA) –Bandai Entertainment, INC. announced at NYCC it has acquired three series from publisher Kadokawa based on the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam 00, which is currently airing on Sci Fi Channel's Ani-Monday block.

The first series, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, is an adaptation manga by Kōzō Ōmori which recreates the anime story with some new flourishes. Following that will be a side story by Koichi Tokita called Mobile Suit Gundam 00F which focuses on a secret branch of Celestial Being that has previous generation Gundams, and lastly a series of light novels by Noboru Kimura.

The story of Gundam 00 is set in the year is 2307 A.D. Although fossil fuels have been depleted, humanity has obtained a new source of energy to replace them, in the form of a large-scale solar power generation system based on three huge orbital elevators. However, the benefits of this system are available only to a handful of major powers and their allies. In this world of never- ending conflict, a private armed organization appears, dedicated to the elimination of war through armed force. Its name is Celestial Being, and it is in possession of "Gundam" mobile suits. With these Gundams, it begins armed intervention into all acts of war.

“It's been a dream of mine, since I got to Bandai Entertaiment in 2004, that one day we would have a Gundam anime and manga. It has finally happened; I couldn't be more excited about the announcement of these two manga and lite novel series”

The first volume of the Gundam 00 adaptation manga is scheduled for release in August.
