Video Games Live in Japan During Tokyo Game Show 2009
GREATEST GAME COMPOSERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD COME TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME
FIRST NON-JAPANESE PRODUCED GAME CONCERT TO DEBUT AT THE LARGEST INDOOR THEATRE IN JAPAN FOR 2 NIGHTS
LOS ANGELES, CA – September 20, 2009 - After touring the globe for over 4 years to sold out audiences around the world, the award winning Video Games Live is proud to announce its first ever shows in Japan taking place during the week of the Tokyo Game Show. Game composers from around the world will be performing and taking part in what is being billed as one of the greatest video game concert to ever be produced. The show will also be the first non-Japanese produced game concert to be performed in Japan.
Two shows will be taking place at the very prestigious Tokyo International Hall (Hall A) which is the largest IN DOOR theatre in Tokyo boasting over 5,000 seats. Over 140+ musicians will be on stage including the Tokyo New City Symphony and 80 members of the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music Chorus.
“I can't begin to describe the great honor, excitement and joy I feel about these particular shows”, said prolific game composer and Video Games Live co-creator Tommy Tallarico. “I've been dreaming about something like this my entire life and we've been waiting for the perfect moment to debut our show to one of the most important video game music markets in the world.” Video Games Live co-creator, conductor and fellow game composer Jack Wall added “Over the years we've received so many requests asking us to bring Video Games Live to Japan. For us it's such a privilege to finally be able to help build this bridge between east and west, make new friends and share our mutual love of video games and music.”
”Game concerts have been a part of Japanese culture since the late 1980's, but Video Games Live has a unique presentation style that has never before been experienced in Japan,” said famed Japanese Metal Gear Solid composer and CEO of GEM Impact, Inc. Norihiko Hibino. “Tommy and Jack have created something so beautiful and fantastic that it's going to be a very big success and something that the Japanese people will want to attend year after year.”
Included in this performance will be music from Final Fantasy, Mario, Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Medal Gear Solid, Halo, Warcraft, Sonic, Castlevania and new Video Games Live world premieres of music from Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross (special arrangement by composer Yasunori Mitsuda), Shadow of the Colossus and Silent Hill. Some of the most famous and prestigious game composers of the above mentioned music will not only be in attendance (and take part in the free post-show meet & greet) but some of them will also be performing live on stage during the show as well.
