Crunchyroll Announces Simulcast Acquisition of Ichiban Ushiro no Daimao

Artland's Highly-Anticipated Anime Adaptation of Shōtarō Mizuki's Fantasy Novels to Stream Through World's Leading Asian Media Lifestyle Brand One Hour After First Airing in Japan

San Francisco, Calif. (April 2, 2010) – Crunchyroll, Inc. announced today the simulcast acquisition of Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaō, the highly anticipated anime based on the Shōtarō Mizuki fantasy novels published by Hobby Japan and animated by Artland. This title will become available each week via Crunchyroll's premium subscription in high definition one hour after first airing in Japan and for free in standard definition with advertisements one week later. More information is on the official Ichiban Ushiro no Daimao series page on Crunchyroll: http://www.crunchyroll.com/daimao.

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaō follows Akuto Sai as the lead character, who on the day he enters Constant Magic Academy, receives a very unexpected future occupation aptitude test result: “Devil King.” Weekly serials feature a circle of magical and fantastic characters around Sai vying for his attention and a broad spectrum story that details his destiny of becoming the Devil King.

Crunchyroll's Japan office Representative Director Vince Shortino said: “The pedigree of this title is impeccable, and with the coming together of top talent in acclaimed action comedy director Takashi Watanabe and prominent lead voice actor Takashi Kondō, we have a real formula for success. We expect this title to be one of the break-out hits of the April 2010 anime season and look forward to its reception by the fans.”
