Hundreds of Duelists Stepped-Up To the Challenge and Competed in this Historic Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Event

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (April 28, 2010) - With so much at stake, beating out a strong field and winning the coveted title of SHONEN JUMP Champion, it has become common place for the Matches to go down to the wire. Jeff Jones displayed great Deck-building skills and savvy strategy to win the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) SHONEN JUMP Championship, held in New Jersey over the weekend, and came out the winner of the more than 2,263 players who competed to claim the coveted title at this historic 75th event.

Jones from Detroit, MI squared off against Renaldo Lainez from Quincy, MA for the title after a weekend of intense Dueling. With cheering friends and family members, competitors and fans watching closely, both competitors displayed skills worthy of a champion. Jones and Lainez played a Quickdraw Dandywarrior Deck and Gadget Deck, respectively.

Jones and his peers took home prize packages that included such items as a Dark End Dragon SHONEN JUMP Championship Prize Card, an event-exclusive SHONEN JUMP Championship Top Cut Game Mat, a netbook computer, a popular personal video game console with Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Wheelie Breakers, a copy of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tagforce 4 video game, and a 64 GB personal music player with docking station and speakers.

In addition, the winner not only received a complimentary subscription to SHONEN JUMP magazine, but will be interviewed for a feature on www.shonenjump.com. Jones also received a paid trip to his nation's National Championship in 2010, courtesy of Konami Digital Entertainment.

Duelists can now turn their attention to the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (formerly the SHONEN JUMP Championship) at the Dulles Expo & Conference Center in Northern Virginia on May 15-16. The Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series will provide Duelists with the same great trading card game action they've come to expect from the SHONEN JUMP Championships.
