Frickin Genius Spike Spencer Coming to Eirtakon!
Voice of Shinji Ikari landing to Dublin this October
DUBLIN, IRELAND – June 8th, 2010 – Actor, author, artist and all-round frickin genius Spike Spencer has been confirmed as the guest of honour for Eirtakon 2010, Ireland's largest anime event taking place in The Helix this October 15th – 17th.
Spike is best known as the voice of Shinji Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion, and has also been in Bleach (as Hanatarō Yamada) and Excel Saga (as Shioji), to name but a few of his anime roles. He has lent his voice to many video games, including Bleach: Shattered Blade and World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Spike is also a noted actor, having played roles in films such as Miss Congeniality and The Big Easy, and author of several books, including How to be a Frickin Genius Voice Actor, Step One.
“Spike is an actor and artist of the highest calibre, and we're incredibly excited to have him come to Ireland just for Eirtakon,” said said Stephen Fox, Eirtakon's director for 2010. “I'm certain he'll really help the party atmosphere we're expecting for this year's event in The Helix. We can't wait for October!”
Expect Spike to give a numer of unique panels over the weekend of Eirtakon, along with a chance to talk to the man himself at our signing session!
The whole Eirtakon committee is looking forward to bringing a showcase of everything anime and manga related to Ireland this October, from unique traders, big-name guests and workshops on all aspects of Japanese life and culture. Expect several important announcements (including info on panels and traders and how to pre-register) over the next few weeks as the excitement begins to build once again for Eirtakon!
