Aniplex to Stream Extended Preview of Welcome to the Space Show Prior to Official Movie Opening
SANTA MONICA, CA (June 20, 2010) – Aniplex of America Inc. announced today that it will video stream the first 22 minutes of the animated theatrical feature Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW worldwide before its theatrical kickoff on June 26 in Japan. The streaming footage, available for viewing on Monday, June 21, 8:00am (PST) will be in its original Japanese language with English subtitles. Created and produced by Aniplex's animation studio, A-1 Pictures, Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW marks the directorial debut of Koji Masunari (READ OR DIE, R.O.D -THE TV-, Kamichu!), reuniting him with the creative team behind the highly lauded R.O.D anime franchise—Hideyuki Kurata (screenplay), Masashi Ishihama (director of art / character design) and Tomonori Ochikoshi (producer)—for their first full-length feature film.
Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival to overwhelmingly positive feedback and was selected for official screening at the 57th Annual Sydney Film Festival recently.
In addition, world renowned vocalist and internet sensation Susan Boyle contributes her original song “Who I Was Born To Be” as the movie theme song. With these latest developments, the movie continues to garner attention and anticipation both in and outside the Animation industry and from fans of all ages.

Aniplex Inc. originally aired the first 22 minutes on TOKYO MX, Japan's terrestrial broadcaster, and received a huge favorable response from viewers that had seen the TV station broadcast. The success of this unusual marketing tactic led to the company's decision to stream the same footage on Aniplex of America's YouTube channel at the same time.

Summer has finally arrived in the small, tight-knit community of Murakawa Village, where everyone practically knows everyone else. The population is so small that there's only five children—Kiyoshi, Natsuki, Noriko, Koji and Amane—enrolled and studying together at the village elementary school. A most unusual incident occurs during summer camp, when they find and save an injured dog, who turns out to be an alien from outer space!
